6 Days – 5 Nights

The ascend to Roraima is one of the most important and authentic Treks in all of South America, having the opportunity to explore the ancient part of the planet and live your own history in the mysterious lost world. Enjoy spectacular views, highly energetic water and exclusive flora and fauna of the place.

The adventure begins like this:

DAY 1

We leave from Santa Elena de Uairén or San Francisco de Yuruaní in a 4x4 vehicle towards the indigenous community Paraitepuy de Roraima, closest point to the tepuy, as far as the vehicles can access. We begin our walk of approximately 5 hours (14 km), until arriving at the Kukenan campsite, that is on an altitude of 1050m. On the way there we will cross two rivers. When it rains, the second river grows and becomes a strong current. Our guides will help us to cross the river save.
A hot dinner will be prepared at the camp.

DAY 2

The next morning after breakfast we will walk for approximately 4 hours (9 km), until arriving at the Base Camp, which one is on an altitude of 1870m. During the walk we will enjoy the beautiful landscape, carnivorous plants and orchids; Remember to bring enough free space on your camera. Upon arrival at the base camp, our guide will prepare a light lunch. Take your time in the afternoon to take beautiful pictures in the jungle or you can also cool off on the small river near the camp. From this point you can see the imposing wall of Roraima. In the evening we will have a warm dinner.

DAY 3

We leave after breakfast, walk 3 hours approximately (1.5 km), starting the ascent of the west wall of the tepuy, by a natural ramp. We will walk through the jungle, through roots and loosy rocks, in this vertical ascent we have high risk for the difficult of the road and the narrow of its edges, but our specialized guides will give you the necessary recommendations. The vegetation of this day is quite exuberant, containing several species of endemic plants. Finally we will reach the top with an altitude of 2800 m. For this reason the temperature drops considerably, once we reach the top, we continue to the camp where we will install the tents, we will serve a light lunch and then we will have time in the afternoon to discover the top. Hot dinner at our camp will be served.

DAY 4

We have all day to explore the top and admire the majestic Tepui Roraima. We see thousands of figures in the stones, like animals, the face of Bolivar and figures of fantasy. We will enjoy the Valley of the Crystals with its special atmosphere and the panoramic view towards the savanna. We will visit the geographic landmark called Triple Point, where the borders of three countrys converge: Venezuela, Brazil and Guyana Esequibo (Zone in Reclamation by Venezuela and British Guyana). On the way back we pass La Fosa, a small sinking at the top of the tepuy, it is possible to take a bath, just the ones who want to do should descend with caution. We have lunch on the way, the walk is about 8 hours (round trip), it is not necessary to carry luggage for this tour. We return to the camp where we will serve a hot dinner.

DAY 5

In the morning we have the opportunity to take the last photos. This day we walk 7 hours approximately and descend from 2800 to 1050 meters. We are going down the tepuy, the first three hours is a strong descent, until Base camp, where we will take a small lunch and continue our 4 hours hike to the Campsite Rio Tök. We will refresh ourselves in the River below a small jump with the view towards the Roraima and Kukenan. We will have the dinner at the campsite.
